I was asking Jesus to help me keep my eyes focused solely on Him. You know, we often want to focus our eyes on leaders, instead of God. But as we all know, leaders will eventually disappoint as it just comes with being human. Some “Christian” leaders are, dare I say, even wolves in sheep’s clothing. This makes it all the more important that we seek after Jesus and learn to recognize His voice.
Sometimes we are only willing vessels that God will use. I say “only” because that’s simply not enough. Here’s what I mean. I wonder if far too often God uses me, in spite of the fact that I don’t clearly recognize His voice.
For you Star Wars fans think about it like this. Jedis use the ole “Jedi mind trick” on the weak-minded. It goes something like this. The Jedi looks at the hearer, waves his hand and says, “I want a drink of water.” And then the hearer says, “I want a drink of water.” Here’s my point … I’m not always sure if important decisions I make are from God or just from me. God will use the willing vessel in spite of that problem (somewhat like the Jedi influence … don’t hate me for bringing Star Wars into this). But that’s not good enough! We need to be able to clearly hear the voice of God speaking to us.
That’s my prayer for today. I want to seek after Jesus, I want to know His voice and I want to be able to distinguish it from all others.
