Our word for the week at church is “light.” I was thinking about how Jesus said, “I am the light of the world” (John 8:12). But He also said the following in the Sermon on the Mount: “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden, nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lamp stand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven” (Matt 5:14-16).
Jesus is the light but it is clear that we are to share that light with others so that they may come to see God. Thus the question: am I living as a Christian who shines a light before men? That’s my prayer for the day.
