Sometimes life leaves us with a hopeless feeling. We pray to God and ask Him to come to our rescue but after a while we begin to wonder if God is even listening. We are often left to the conclusion that we are simply stuck in a hopeless situation. When times like this hit us, we must remember that God is always on the scene.
When the Israelites were enslaved in Egypt they cried out to God for help; they surely had a feeling of hopelessness. But we read that “God heard their groaning and He remembered His covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob. So God looked on the Israelites and was concerned about them” (Exod 2:24-25).
Likewise, when we live for Jesus, God covenants with us. He hears our prayers, our groanings, our hearts. “Lord, You are a God who instills hope into hopeless situations. You are faithful to Your people. In my time of crisis, help me also be faithful to You.”
