Prayer Thought – Discouragement

Depression and discouragement can be immensely heavy weights that immobilize a person, even a nation.  As I was reading about Moses and the events leading up to the Exodus, I ran across a rather interesting text.  Moses delivered God’s message to the Israelites which said something like this:  “I am the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.  I made a covenant with them and I will redeem you with mighty works and deliver you from the Egyptians.”

But listen to Exodus 6:9.  It says, “Moses reported this to the Israelites, but they did not listen to him because of their discouragement and cruel bondage.”  In other words, their circumstances prevented them from hearing God.  We must never get to the point where we allow outside influences to prevent us from hearing the voice of God.  Jesus is speaking, but do you hear Him?  “Lord, I want to hear You.  When I’m discouraged, if necessary, speak a bit louder.  Help me listen!  Don’t let me get in the way of what You want in my life.”
