Prayer Thought: God Surrounds Us

Psalm 125:1-2 says, “Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever.  As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds His people both now and forever.”

What a great image; as the mountains may surround us, so it is with our God!  This image brings so many things to my mind.  I think of a newborn child being wrapped up so snuggly in one of those little blankets.  I think of Isaiah 52:12 which says, “But you will not leave in haste or go in flight; for the LORD will go before you, the God of Israel will be your rear guard.”  And I simply think of God going with me, wherever it may be.  Our God is not One who leaves us alone; His presence always goes with us.  Yes, in every sense, God surrounds us.  “Lord, help me be mindful of your presence that goes with me.  Let it be an encouragement to me, a reminder of Your watchful eye.”
