The Apostle Paul told the Romans one of the reasons he wanted to see the Christians at Rome was so he might be encouraged with them, “each of us by the other’s faith” (Rom 1:12).
This really struck a chord with me as Americans live such an individualistic lifestyle. If truth be told, sometimes we’re happy to just be left alone. While stress sometimes causes us to withdraw and want some down time, we must also remember the benefit of togetherness. Christianity is not to be lived in isolation and so our growth is stifled when we do so. Therefore, we must intentionally rub shoulders with other Christians, sharing our life joys and struggles with one another.
“Lord, push me to be more proactive in seeking out friendship with other Christians. Let us encourage one another as we strive to live in Your light.”
