I attended a funeral earlier this week of an old high school friend; she wasn’t yet 50. Praise God she was a believer! It seems like every time I go to a funeral, however, I sit there and wonder how non-believers cope in such difficult times. But if truth be told, even believers have their moments of doubt. If you’ve been struggling with doubt as of late, just remember that it’s a normal thing that comes with being human. Yes, we’ve all been there a time or two.
To counter our doubt, God gives us faith and hope. And what I love, is that biblical hope is not wishful thinking (e.g., I hope I win the lottery). Instead, biblical hope is a sure thing which rests on the promises of the Almighty. The Apostle Paul says that God “gives life to the dead and calls into being that which does not exist” (Rom 4:17). Yes, there’s a God who will see us through death and into eternity. That’s something you can bank on!
“Lord build my faith and help me dwell on the truthfulness of Your word.”
